The Columbia Township Board of Zoning Appeals will meet on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. to hear two cases. The public hearing will be at the Columbia Town Hall, 25496 Royalton Road, Columbia Station, Ohio 44028.

Case 2026-04: Andrew and Justin May, 10982 Root Road, are requesting a 30 ft. front setback variance to build an attached garage to their existing home which is 70 ft. from the road right-of-way. Due to the location of their septic system, the garage cannot be moved behind the home. The Permanent Parcel Numbers for their property are 12-00-099-000-018 and 12-00-099-000-029 and both are zoned R3 Residential. Under Table 8.03 of the Columbia Township Zoning Resolution, a 100 ft. front setback is required in the R3 District; therefore, a 30 ft. front setback variance is necessary to obtain a zoning permit for this garage.

Case 2026-05: Michael Flater, 11015 Clarke Road, Permanent Parcel Number 1200-003-000-053, would like to build a 3,600 sq. barn on his property. Under Table 8.08, note "F", the size of an accessory building cannot exceed the total square footage of the lot, minus the 100 ft. setback, by more than 10 percent. Because Mr. Flater's proposed barn would exceed the permitted size for his lot by 68 percent or 1,938 sq. ft., he is requesting a 1,938 sq. ft. variance.
