The Columbia Township Fire & Emergency Services Department provides emergency medical services, fire suppression, and all-hazards response to Columbia Township in Lorain County, Ohio. The Department serves an area of approximately 25 square miles with a population of roughly 8,500 residents. The Department’s organizational structure includes 7 full-time Firefighter/Paramedic,35 part time fire and EMS personnel, Chief, Assistant Chief,2 Captains, and 1 Lieutenant.
The Fire & Emergency Services Chief serves as the senior administrative and operational leader of the department and is responsible for its overall direction, performance, and effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Township Trustees, the Chief provides strategic leadership while ensuring the department’s operations, staffing, and resource needs are aligned with the Township goals, policies, and financial priorities.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, collaborative leader who can effectively manage day-to-day operations while also considering the broader interests of the Township as a whole. This includes exercising sound judgment and reasonability in matters related to staffing, budgeting, capital planning, and service delivery, and working constructively with Township Trustees and other departments to support long-term organizational sustainability.
